Welcome to Reception!
Miss Gilmore is the teacher in Reception. She is supported by Ms Howard, Mrs Jones and Mrs Taylor – and many wonderful volunteers! Please do mention to us if you would like to come in to help – help is always greatly received! In our reception class we have lots of fun, we love to be outdoors, to sing, explore and investigate. We share lots of books together: reading and stories are a huge part of our learning.
Children participate in a range of formal and play based learning each day. We follow the Development matters curriculum and assess children against this regularly. Here is the link to the curriculum if you wish to take a look – https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/early-years-foundation-stage-framework–2
Please listen to your child read at least four times per week and complete homework tasks set; these are very important in supporting and consolidating children’s learning. Children need their reading book and reading record in school every day and our allocated PE slot is on Wednesdays.
Parents are key to their child’s development and progress. Good communication between home and school is essential and please do feel free to ask any questions or raise any concerns you may have about your child.
Thank you for your ongoing support.
